Tanya Desai is a Marketing Strategist at Foundation who thinks in communities and writes for connection.

She’s a T-shaped marketer with a deep focus on community-led thinking, and is curious about how people gather, why they stay, and what makes them care. Her work lives at the intersection of culture, content, and strategy.
Before Foundation, Tanya built her own social music startup and collaborated with early-stage brands across SaaS, D2C, and femtech. But no matter the industry, she’s always chasing the same thing: resonance over reach.

She believes good, impactful marketing feels like belonging – and she’s here for the long game.

What is usually playing in your headphones?

Honestly? Anything under the sun.

Since building a social music app, the number of genres and subgenres I’ve explored has absolutely exploded. I’m constantly chasing new sounds and unusual pairings.

I’m especially drawn to fusion: when two genres that have no business being together end up creating something sublime. Think Jazz x Metal. Electronic x Indian Classical. Ambient x Folk.

Some of my favourite artists are Anoushka Shankar, Sleep Token, and Advaita.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I had this very clear vision: I was going to be a lawyer who represented India at the United Nations and also write fiction on the side.

Basically, I wanted to save the world and romanticize it at the same time.

What are you happiest doing, when you are not working?

Sitting in cafes/parks reading a book, writing or painting. People-watching. Playing board games. Wandering around the city discovering new places. 

Eating a lot of food.

What is your hidden talent?

I have a sixth sense for upcoming trends, especially e – cultural ones. I can often feel a shift before it hits the timeline.

What is one of your favourite quotes?
