Kate is a Content Marketing Manager with Foundation. WHAT IS USUALLY PLAYING IN YOUR HEADPHONES?

My tastes are rather broad as a musician, but I almost always need a guitar or drums as a base.  It’s virtually always instrumental when I’m working with extra love to anything with a cello. After work? Some favourites outside work hours are Modest Mouse, 80s and early 90s grunge, modern folk, and singer-songwriters (check out Dan Mangan).

WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?

I wanted to be an artist. The way imagery, sound, colour, or even stroke style can evoke emotion and tell a story has whisked me away since I was young. I believe that art has the power to heal and communicate in a fundamental way.

WHAT ARE YOU HAPPIEST DOING, WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?

I unwind by drawing and illustrating — it’s part of how I distill and explore my day. If it’s not drawing, then it’s cooking a great meal or letting loose at band practice. 

WHAT IS YOUR HIDDEN TALENT?

I can virtually always take “there’s no food in the house” and turn it into “that was a delicious feast.”

Change and growth are brought to life through exploration. It’s something that ties strongly into shaping culture through content; in the act of creating, we are transforming and integrating new ideas and modalities. As we get older, we still need to play — it’s through those spaces we sharpen our ability to analyze.
