The Director of Strategy at Foundation is a leadership role designed for a high-performing, detail-oriented, and client-obsessed marketing strategist. You’ll partner closely with our VP of Strategy to lead our growing strategy team, oversee the development and execution of winning B2B content and SEO strategies, and contribute directly to client outcomes and company revenue growth.
You will also serve as the strategic lead for a subset of key client accounts, ensuring that our recommendations translate into measurable KPIs and long-term partnerships. This role is both tactical and strategic: you’ll roll up your sleeves to shape client roadmaps while mentoring the next generation of Foundation strategists.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Lead strategic planning across a portfolio of high-value accounts
- Collaborate with Account Managers to support upsells and renewals with performance-driven rationale
- Mentor junior and mid-level strategists, providing guidance on ideation, delivery, and execution
- Participate in quarterly business reviews and performance reviews with clients
- Create content strategies that align with generative engine optimization (GEO), buyer journeys, and marketing funnels
- Track performance against KPIs and support internal reporting, dashboards, and retrospectives
- Identify growth opportunities within your book of business and partner with AMs to activate them
- Contribute to Foundation’s IP, frameworks, and training systems for scalable strategy delivery
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Own the strategic roadmap and KPI outcomes for 5–10 key accounts
- Ensure high-quality execution of SEO, content marketing, and distribution strategies
- Lead quarterly planning, brief development, and performance reviews across your accounts
- Translate business goals into channel-specific, measurable strategic actions
- Regularly present performance insights and growth opportunities with ROI justification
- Identify and scope strategic upsell opportunities within your client accounts
- Contribute to Foundation’s revenue goals by delivering strategies that drive expansions
- Support Account Managers by preparing and validating the strategic rationale
- Track and report on your book’s expansion pipeline and active annualized revenue
- Provide direct coaching and feedback to team members
- Review briefs, deliverables, and reporting decks to ensure strategic integrity
- Run training sessions, participate in hiring, and help shape onboarding of new strategists
- Support capacity planning and account assignments in partnership with VP of Strategy
- Contribute new ideas and frameworks to Foundation’s strategic methodology
- Lead internal brainstorms around emerging trends, generative search, Reddit and AI
- Create and distribute content for Foundation Labs and LinkedIn to establish authority
WHAT SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:
- 5+ years of experience in B2B marketing strategy
- 5+ years of experience working at an agency or in a freelance / fractional capacity
- Proven record of client KPI achievement across organic search, content strategy & more
- Deep understanding of content-led growth, SEO, and funnel strategy
- Strong communicator with experience presenting to VP and C-suite clients
- Experience scoping and supporting upsells, with a track record of revenue generation
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and mentor a team
- Analytical and results-driven, with comfort using tools like Google Analytics, Ahrefs, HubSpot, etc.
- Bonus: Experience with Reddit marketing, generative AI content tools, or GEO frameworks
- We're a remote team, so it's important that you're well organized and can manage your own schedule.

- Client KPI Achievement: ≥90% of accounts hitting agreed metrics
