Leigha Henderson is a content marketing specialist at Foundation with a focus on content creation. She found her path to copywriting through her love of research, strategy, data, and the written word.

With diverse experience in digital marketing, Leigha is a storyteller whose journey in digital marketing has just begun, and she’s riding every wave.

From multiple co-ops in her university days with SaaS and marketing agencies to B2B start-ups and executive business coaching companies in her post-grad endeavours, Leigha’s perspective brings all four corners of her world together, and she understands the power and beauty of digital marketing and content creation.

She values experiential learning and topics that are far out of her day-to-day need-to-know. Whether she’s watching documentaries about outer space, reading non-fiction and historical fiction novels, or connecting with people in her network (both online and offline), she will always have a million more questions to ask.

(When Leigha’s not learning, she’s probably asleep. The ‘L’ in Leigha stands for Learner!)

Here is a brief taste of Leigha’s personality:

What is usually playing in your headphones?

What isn’t usually playing in my headphones?! I am an adventurous music lover, and I’m always keen to find new tunes.

When I’m physically active, I love to sing along with songs to keep my breath in check. My favourite is: Holding Out For a Hero (from the Shrek 2 soundtrack, only).

When I’m relaxing, I listen to complex music with lots of unique sounds and voices so I can appreciate it in full. (A huge favourite is the song Sun Eyes by Idesia.)

And when I’m chilling, I’m probably bumpin’ Drake, or vibing to new SoundCloud artists.

Music has always been a big part of my life, and though I have zero musical talent, I take pride in my playlists, and my friends can always count on me to recommend a new beat. Two albums I really love are Voyager by Moonchild and Floetic by Floetry.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was little, I really wanted to be a vet. Caring for animals and providing service to those in need went hand in hand with me. I even went to Veterinarian Camp at the University of Prince Edward Island when I was in grade school.

During my final year at camp, I was basically ready to start applying for veterinary schools. But that summer, I learned two things: horses can receive knee-replacement surgery, and I have a significant fear of blood.

Enter the furthest alternative education option: A marketing degree.

What are you happiest doing, when you are not working?

When I’m not writing my little heart out, you can find me shreddin’ down the mountains on skis in the winter, or on my bike in the summer.

If I can get outside, I’m going to go. Nature and movement are two tools that really help me connect with myself and my surroundings, and keep my body and mind charged.

I am also very happy when I’m sleeping. 🙂

What is your hidden talent?

Maybe not so hidden, but my favourite party trick is my memory. I put elephants to shame with the vault I have between my ears.

Random trivia, useless facts. You can ask my colleagues about my trivia skills.

What is one of your favourite quotes?

My favourite quote is actually a proverb:  Everything happens for a reason.

It’s a mantra that I bring with me every day and reminds me that there is a greater power at work. I value the flow of life, and I happily sit in my pool floatie to see where the river will take me.
