SAAS CASE STUDY
How Airwallex Spreads Its $5.5-Billion Product Across the Globe With International SEO and Content Distribution
Jack Zhang just wanted to sell some coffee.
Instead, he founded a tech company worth $5.5 billion.
In 2015, co-founder Jack Zhang was figuring out how to pay suppliers for his coffee business. Fast forward to today, and he’s at the helm of a company revolutionizing the FinTech space. A key driver of this success? A strategic approach to international SEO.
The Foundation Lab delved into Airwallex’s journey and unearthed some fascinating insights. From choosing the right URL structure to tailoring content for local cultures and search behaviors, Airwallex’s international SEO strategy is a master class in global expansion.

👀 What’s the Latest in B2B SaaS This Week?
X (formerly Twitter) will be able to train AI based on user data, according to a new privacy policy that will take effect September 29. Just last March, it put harsh restrictions on third-party companies doing the same with its new API policies.
Walmart is investing billions in Indian tech companies like Flipkart and PhonePe, spending a combined $20 billion on acquiring shares of the two companies. This comes just months after Amazon shuttered three verticals in India, highlighting the two rivals’ differing South Asian strategies.
A UAE-based team has built a large language model (the same type of AI that powers ChatGPT) based in Arabic. The model was trained on 13 billion parameters, making it the largest Arabic-based large language model.
Delta Airlines has upgraded its equipment to avoid interference from 5G signals. The upgrade will prevent technology-related delays and allow cell carriers to use 5G in areas near airports where they previously couldn’t.

🧠 This Week’s Brain Food
This is my first time writing Foundation’s newsletter. Hi, nice to meet you. I’m Chris.
As an introduction, I’d like to tell you about the lessons in leadership I’ve learned from the leaders here at Foundation. Here’s how Ross and the other leaders ensure their writers are always getting better to stay on top as the industry-leading team we are:
💡Always listening when we raise our hands
Whether it’s a pitch for a piece in The Lab or a way to bring extra value to a client, every leader here is willing to listen. That doesn’t mean they always say yes — I’ve given my share of bad pitches — but it creates a culture where we’re always looking for new ways to go above and beyond.
💡Giving us the resources to improve
Know a great book I should read to become a better content marketer? Let me know — Foundation will pay for it! Education reimbursements mean there’s no barrier to us getting better.
💡Unabashedly celebrating our wins
We have a great, very active Slack channel for celebrating our wins. That doesn’t just mean we feel good; it also clues me in to the great work my colleagues are doing.
I won’t lie; it also gives an incentive to do a little extra work with the hopes of getting a shoutout. What can I say? Marketers like attention!
