🤖 How Chain of Thought Prompting Improves ChatGPT

A lot of people struggle to get the most out of ChatGPT. But there’s a pretty quick, easy way to upgrade the responses you get back and start creating quality content at scale: Chain of Thought (CoT) prompting.

The best part is CoT prompting is pretty simple. You can ask ChatGPT to explain its rationale or process, and it’s much more likely to give you an accurate, thorough answer.

This new way of approaching prompting can dramatically improve your results in all kinds of applications, but we walk through four where we think it’s a game changer:

  • Topic research
  • Brief and draft generation
  • Incorporating feedback into your work
  • Identifying distribution candidates

Welcome to the future of content creation, where Chain of Thought prompting is your competitive edge.

Ready to upgrade your prompting? Find out exactly how to use CoT prompting in our full breakdown right here.

B2B SAAS INSIGHTS

🏎️ The Race for Top Social Media App and What It Means for Marketers

Instagram has overtaken TikTok as the most downloaded app this month.

Both platforms use short-form video to attract and retain users, relying on their algorithms to keep people engaged. But Instagram has benefited from the introduction of Threads, an X competitor with 130 million monthly active users. It also gets plenty of videos from TikTok, whose owner is open to videos being reused on both platforms.

From 2019 to 2023, TikTok exploded its user base by 202%. But Instagram kept up a steady — albeit slower — pace of growth as well, increasing its users by about 53% over the same period. And it turns out that TikTok’s pace of growth wasn’t sustainable in the long run, and it’s fallen off significantly since then.

There’s still plenty to be gained by distributing your content on TikTok — even SaaS companies are seeing success there

But you need to consider your strategy. Instead of metrics that indicate long-term impact and growth, like follower count, you should chase shorter-term goals like views and likes on TikTok. On the other hand, Instagram has proven that it has the longevity to be a platform where you cultivate a more permanent following.

📢 Recent Podcast Appearance: Exit Five 📢

They talk about the value of social followers and how to leverage them for content distribution. 🧠 This Week’s Brain Food 🧠

Be patient. Things take time.

Too often, we look for immediate, obvious results. But in marketing, as in so many other things, that’s not how it goes a lot of the time.

I was just talking to a friend who’s frustrated with how long it’s taking him to learn Spanish. He takes classes and talks to native speakers but still feels awkward when he orders food in the language. “I just feel like I’m not moving forward,” he told me over coffee.

But the truth is, he’s made huge progress. The problem is that it’s been so gradual that he hasn’t even noticed that many things he used to struggle with, he can now do without thinking.

When you’re in the midst of something, it’s often hard to see just how far you’ve come.

Check out this graph of search interest for the term “Foundation Marketing” over the last year.

A graph showing the changes in relative search interest for 'Foundation Marketing' over the course of a year

It’s got plenty of ups and downs, so you might miss that interest is at its peak, with a possible dip that would still put it over 20% higher than where it was a year ago.

Make sure to check in and find objective ways to measure your own progress for whatever it is you’re working on so that you can easily see — and celebrate — how far you’ve already come.
