The For You Page (FYP) is essentially the TikTok homepage.
It is the first thing you see when you open the app and consists of a collection of videos that differs from person to person according to what the algorithm thinks you’ll enjoy. Your behavior and interactions on the app (such as the videos you watch, share, like, save, and comment on) are used to display relevant content to you.
Here is an image of the FYP when it’s open to give you visual context. You can see in the top navigation bar that you are automatically taken to the FYP, where you can also search for content. On the left, where it says “followers,” you can view only the content of the creators you’re following.
In the right-hand navigation bar, you can interact with the video. This is where you can follow the creator and like, comment, save, and share the video.
At the bottom left of the screen, you can find the username of the creator whose video you’re watching, along with the caption and hashtags they used. Below the description is the song or audio used by the creator.

The goal is to use hashtags as a tool, not a shortcut, so you don’t miss out on keywords relevant to your content. Use trending hashtags within your niche, mix popular and less popular hashtags, and ensure the hashtags you’re using are relevant.

Trending TikTok sounds are available in the Trend Intelligence dropdown menu, which also includes data for hashtags, songs, creators, and videos. Using this feature, you can browse or search for songs from the previous day, the last 30 days, or the last 120 days. You can also select a region.
The songs section has two key tabs, which are Popular and Breakout. In the Popular tab, you can find the most popular songs within the selected region, and the Breakout tab displays songs rapidly gaining popularity. Using trending sounds will take your brand awareness to the next level.
