SAAS CASE STUDY
How Buffer Acquired 10M+ Backlinks From High Authority Sites
Last week, I stumbled upon an intriguing revelation about the Buffer blog.
It boasts an impressive number of over 10,000,000 backlinks from highly authoritative websites such as Shopify, Calendly, Weebly, and the New York Times.
Initially, I assumed that these backlinks were simply a result of product mentions, but my curiosity led me to delve deeper into their strategy. Turns out, there’s more to it than meets the eye.
If you’re seeking effective methods to generate backlinks from high-authority sites and crave a firsthand example of how it’s done right, then you should check out this case study. I’ll break down the different content types that earned Buffer the most backlinks.

How SaaS Brands Can Win in Commoditized Markets
SaaS is becoming really popular, and it’s now easier than ever to start, buy, learn about, or invest in SaaS companies. This trend is evident across various categories.
For example, on G2, there are more than 847 CRM solutions, 228 Sales Intelligence Solutions, 322 e-Signature Solutions, and 247 Contract Management solutions competing for attention. However, there’s still a massive opportunity to dominate some SaaS niches.
In the latest episode of Create like the Greats, Ross Simmonds shared tips on how SaaS companies can win in a commoditized market.

👀 What’s the Latest in B2B SaaS This Week?
Snowflake is buying Neeva, an AI search engine, for an undisclosed amount.
Google is planning to use generative AI technology to improve the relevance of search ads. This means that the ads you see when you search for something will be more closely related to the context of your query.
🧠 This Week’s Brain Food
A while ago, I read a piece titled Quiet People in Meetings Are Incredible.
My biggest takeaway was the power of observing and learning from quiet people in meetings. It’s true that many tend to favor the loudest individuals in a room, but there’s a lot we can learn from quiet people in meetings.
For example, silence doesn’t always mean lack of knowledge or fear. Sometimes, it’s great to listen intently and take notes before contributing. That way, you have a chance to ask questions for more clarity and contribute valuable insights.
