HubSpot’s Reddit Strategy – How a Subreddit Became a Support Channel

HubSpot’s small r/HubSpot subreddit (~12k members) punches above its weight by serving as a community-driven support hub. With over 258,000 businesses using HubSpot, this subreddit represents a tiny fraction of users, yet HubSpot has empowered it to thrive.

r/HubSpot is moderated by just two accounts: the official HubSpotHelp support account (managed by ~6 employees) and HubSpot enthusiast Ryan Gunn. Ryan isn’t even a HubSpot employee, but as a product expert and volunteer mod, he engages across multiple related subreddits to build trust with folks beyond HubSpot’s customer base.

Meanwhile, the HubSpotHelp team tackles questions, hosts AMAs, and shares product tips right on Reddit, even DMing users solutions when needed. This one-two punch of passionate user moderator + active support team has created an authentic help channel that customers genuinely appreciate.

HubSpot’s approach shows that meeting users where they already hang out (and empowering them with real conversations instead of corporate PR) can turn a niche forum into a trusted extension of your support community.

Read the full case study on our blog to learn more and see how AMAs and cross-subreddit engagement are fueling HubSpot’s user-driven support strategy.

🚨 New Podcast Alert: We’re Not Marketers 🚨

This week, Ross sat down with the folks at We’re Not Marketers to talk about why content without distribution is merely “expensive digital paperwork.” He emphasized the importance of building “content moats,” long-lasting assets that continue to deliver value over time. Ross also talked about how the rise of AI has made SEO more essential (not less) and why marketers need to prioritize distribution from the start if they want their content to actually reach the right audience.

Pressing Publish Isn’t Enough. Here’s How to 10x Your Distribution in Minutes

You spent hours creating your best content yet.

An article. A podcast. Or maybe a video interview.

You hit publish, and then… nothing.

  • No shares
  • No traffic
  • No results

The truth?

Your content isn’t the problem. Your distribution is.

The brands that win don’t just create.

They share content obsessively. They get seen.

They squeeze every ounce of value from every single post.

And now, you can too.

With Distribution.AI, your content shows up everywhere. No extra effort needed.

Minutes later, you’re everywhere your audience hangs out.

  • More reach
  • More impressions
  • More ROI

All from the content you’ve already made.

No more publish and pray.

No more watching your best work go unnoticed.

🧠 This Week’s Brain Food 🧠

This month, I found myself navigating the surprisingly tricky process of getting a new driver’s license in Spain, my current home away from home.

Despite years of driving experience, facing a stack of paperwork, language barriers, and unfamiliar regulations was humbling. At first, every step felt frustrating—from translating traffic laws to re-learning road signs that I’d always taken for granted.

But as I work through the 200-page driver’s manual (a lot more detailed than the one they give you in Oregon), I’m appreciating how long it’s been since I really studied for a test like this. It’s certainly not making me want to go back to school anytime soon, but there’s an old skill there that I’m getting to exercise again.

It’s surprising how confronting everyday activities through a fresh lens can reignite your curiosity and appreciation for learning.
