- Fireside Chat on Disruptive Technologies — James Scherer, VP of Strategy, joined Ross for a virtual sit-down on the marketing innovations making waves.

How Contentsquare Quadrupled Organic Traffic
Writing a high volume of content isn’t enough.
Don’t forget, your quality matters too. That’s what I broke down in the latest article on the Foundation Lab.
Contentsquare, a leader in UX analytics, achieved a 400% increase in organic traffic in nine months by prioritizing quality over quantity in content strategy. They focused on high-value topics like qualitative vs. quantitative data, leveraging strategic SEO to drive engagement.
By shifting their focus from branded to non-branded keywords, they expanded their reach, enhancing visibility and relevance. This approach underscores the importance of deep, well-optimized content and strategic keyword use. Now, Contentsquare is scaling this quality-first strategy, publishing more frequently while maintaining content excellence.
Check out the full breakdown in the Foundation Lab, and let us know what you think about brand-heavy growth strategies!

🚨 New Insights From Ross: How Brands Can Thrive with STAT 🚨
One of our favourite tools to help our clients understand how their articles rank and their place in the market is STAT Search Analytics. It’s especially useful in times like these, when the SERPs are incredibly volatile, and it’s hard to know where you stand with search engines.
This week, Ross broke down how we use STAT to help our clients. It’s a peek behind the curtain at our strategy process, with valuable insights that you can apply to your own work.
Here are a few of the core points he covers:
- How STAT lets you target the right review sites
- How we judge the potential value of targeting BOFU keywords
- How to identify new competitors on the SERPs for keywords you’re targeting

🧠 This Week’s Brain Food 🧠
Some personal news: I’m getting married!
I promise I’m not just bragging. It’s relevant.
It turns out that wedding planning involves a lot of the skills I developed as a marketer. I carefully re-examined every word on our invites and wedding website to make sure they were as clear as possible. Parking instructions, the timeline of events, and the general theme all need to be communicated in a direct but unusually formal way.
It’s tricky!
It made me think about how much the skills we develop in this industry matter for life. The ability to explain parking in a strange city to my uncle is the same skill I use to explain technical products to non-technical audiences.
Take a second to appreciate the skills you have and how they make your life better. You might not even realize how much you use them!
Finally Unlocked: Ross’s MozCon 2023 Presentation
At last, the archivists at Moz have seen fit to open their vaults to the public: The recording of Ross’s presentation from MozCon 2023 is now available for you to enjoy.
His presentation covered his vision for how content will evolve and how the marketing industry will change.
He makes plenty of predictions here, so it’s absolutely worth seeing which ones have already started to come true and which ones are still on their way.
Plus, there are plenty of insights that you can still apply to your own marketing strategies today.
